About Us
Ruth and Esther Foundation is an organisation that supports children and young people from poor and low income families.
What inspired us to help street children in Nigeria: “We can describe the happiness we feel that we are going to set up an organization to been able to give so many a better start in life. When you see children, who would have otherwise been living on the streets, graduating from university and able to build a life for themselves you can’t help but smile,”. Three years ago we decide to start gather our children clothes and has tirelessly working hard to raised funds to help orphans, street children with special needs and their families, in Nigeria.
Despite being similar with these street children we knew what it meant to be poor in our home, Nigeria is one of the poorest countries in the world because of many political, social and economical reasons. We have much in common with these street children that we`re working with.
We provide a wide range of support programmes such as educational resourcing programme to provide learning materials such as pens, books, etc to children whose parents cannot afford to provide these items for them, community feeding programme to feed families that are unable to access three square meals a day
The Dream
After we had our kids the love affection was so great.” I dreamed Nigerian children were running down the road and reaching out to me. Although i wasn’t in Nigeria or had been in the news so I don’t know what prompted such a vivid dream. “The pain I felt was so real it became a part of me. I didn’t fully understand it but I knew that I had to do something. It was an obligation.
“we started by sending our children old clothes to some street children near my formal house I was staying at before travelling to Europe we donate the funds to children school fees in our local area.
“We had no money and was sometimes deprived ourself from vacation and personal shopping but because of our own childhood we knew what it was like to be a victim and living on the streets. So we decided to set the organization and hope to have people or government that will sponsored us for it to be successful.
What is the Project About
We decided to create an organization to helped reach out to street children who generally lack access to public school services due to primarily poverty.
Based on the study done by the Government, there are over 2500 children who live in the streets of Nigeria some children live with their families while some live on their own. These children have limited access to food, shelter, protection, and health; and these children don't have a chance to go to formal school. So our program will Outreach and Protection Education on the Streets will give the street children a chance to learn basic education through our workers
Due to poverty and absence of Love and insecurity in the families, disputes, Unwanted pregnancy etc. etc., these orphan and street children are left without care These children have also limited access protection, and health. Through our future organization “Ruth & Esther Foundation” they will be assisted and provided free health care. I and my co-workers will also encourage the street youth to engage in differed livelihood, service skills training that will help them to have a sustainable life and give them the basic things in life.
